A new bakery and cafe is on its way to the Lower Mills section of Dorchester, and it will be moving into the space where an eclectic restaurant had been until earlier this year.
According to EveryBlock Boston, Sweet Life Bakery and Cafe has received a business license to open on Dorchester Avenue, taking over the former Common Ground Cafe spot. (Common Ground, which had been run by a confederation of religious communities called the Twelve Tribes, closed this past spring.) An earlier Boston Globe article mentions that Sweet Life will feature house-made baked goods and will also have a lunch menu.
[September 17, 2012 update: The Dorchester Reporter states that Sweet Life Bakery and Cafe is now open for business, though the main gist of the article is about Sweet Life co-owner Michael Ahern being charged with motor vehicle homicide, OUI, operating to endanger, and speeding after Doan Bui was run down and killed while on his bike on Morrissey Boulevard this past Friday. (Ahern is also a partner at The Ledge in Lower Mills and Slate Bar and Grill in Boston.) Thanks to Grub Street Boston for bringing this to our attention.]
The address for this new bakery and cafe in Lower Mills is: Sweet Life Bakery and Cafe, 2255 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA, 02124.
