Wahlburgers Gets New CEO; Expansion Plans Beyond the Boston Area in the Works

This spring, we reported that the Wahlbergs were possibly considering expanding their popular burger restaurant overseas, and while that apparently turned out to be more of a rumor, now we have learned that Wahlburgers is indeed going to be expanding both in the Boston area and beyond.

MarketWatch is reporting that Rick Vanzura has been named Chief Executive Officer of Wahlburgers (whose flagship location is in Hingham), and an expansion will be coming for the restaurant, with "plans to open more nationwide beginning in the Boston area." Chef Paul Wahlberg, along with his celebrity brothers Donnie and Mark, first opened Wahlburgers at the Hingham Shipyard last October, with rumors of expansion through Britain and England coming out in March, as well as word of a possible location coming to Boston's Fenway neighborhood at around the same time.

Vanzura was formerly Executive Vice President and co-Chief Operating Officer of Panera, according to MarketWatch.

Wahlburgers offers such items as burgers (including turkey and salmon burgers), hot dogs, fries, onion rings, and frappes. The address is: Wahlburgers, 19 Shipyard Drive, Hingham, MA, 02043.
