The Proper Slice in Brighton Is Opening in the Former Upper Crust Space in Boston's Back Bay

A few weeks ago we reported that a new spot called The Just Crust was going to be moving into the former Upper Crust space in Cambridge's Harvard Square. Now we have learned that the folks behind a Brighton pizzeria are looking to take over another Upper Crust location, with this one being in the Back Bay of Boston.

Universal Hub is reporting that The Proper Slice on Washington Street is planning to open a second location of their restaurant in the Newbury Street spot where the Upper Crust had been. UH says that the pizza place has been given permission by the City of Boston to serve food there, though they are still waiting on a beer and wine license (it sounds like this could happen very soon).

[March 13 update: The new Proper Slice location in the Back Bay appears to be on the verge of opening, as an event posting on their Facebook page says that it plans to open this week. (Their Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/ProperSliceNewbury)]

[March 14 update: Eater Boston states that The Proper Slice will officially open in the Back Bay tomorrow.]

A number of Upper Crust locations had gone to auction in December, including a shop in Wellesley that has since reopened with the Upper Crust name intact.

The address for this new pizzeria in the Back Bay is: The Proper Slice, 222 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02116. The website for the original Brighton location can be found at http://www.theproperslice.com/

Thanks to Grub Street Boston for bringing this to our attention.
