Ghirardelli Is Opening a Shop in Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace

A well-known chocolate company that is based in San Francisco is going to be opening its first shop in New England, and it will be located in the heart of Boston.

The Boston Hospitality and Tourism Industry Blog is reporting that Ghiradelli is planning to open at Faneuil Hall, with the marketplace's website stating that it will move into the North Market Building. It is not known whether this will be one of the company's ice cream and chocolate shops or one of its outlet shops; as soon as we find out more about the place, we will post an update here.

[November 6 update: Eater Boston mentions (via Boston Magazine) that Ghirardelli is now open at 6 North Market at Faneuil Hall, and that the two-story spot is indeed one of their ice cream and chocolate shops, complete with cafe seating.]

Ghirardelli, which first started out in the mid-1800s in California, currently has a total of 13 ice cream and chocolate shops and another 8 outlet shops, with most of the stores being out west (the closest ones to Boston are in Chicago and Louisville). The website for the compay can be found at http://www.ghirardelli.com/
