Piattini in Boston's Back Bay Tells Albuquerque Restaurant to Get a New Name

A restaurant in New Mexico will need to find a new name because a dining spot in Boston has a trademark on it.

According to an article in The Daily Digest, the owners of Piattini in Albuquerque have received a cease-and-desist letter from Piattini in Boston's Back Bay because the Newbury Street wine cafe apparently has a national trademark on the name that "legally compels other Piattini-branded establishments to find new monikers if potential exists for confusion." The article says that husband and wife behind the Italian eatery in Albuquerque are meeting with a trademark lawyer and could have a new name in a few months.

Piattini in Albuquerque first opened in March of this year, while Piattini in Boston has been in business for just under 15 years.
