Bluestone Bistro in Brighton Is Closing; May Be Replaced by Chili Thai Bistro

A decades-old restaurant that is known for its pizza is apparently closing, with an Asian eatery moving into its space.

According to a Licensing Board page within the City of Boston website, Bluestone Bistro in Brighton is looking to transfer its liquor license to a new spot tentatively called Chili Thai Bistro, which would open at the same Commonwealth Avenue address. If the city approves of the transfer, it is not known exactly when Bluestone Bistro would close, or when Chili Thai Bistro might open; the hearing is taking place today, so as soon as we get more information, we will post an update here.

[February 19, 2015 update: Eater Boston states that Bluestone Bistro has officially closed.]

Bluestone Bistro first opened in the late 1980s, offering such items as pizza, calzones, subs, pasta dishes, and more. It has been known as a popular spot for college students--especially pizza lovers from BC, which is located nearby.

The address for Bluestone Bistro (and the proposed Chili Thai Bistro) is 1799 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA, 02135.
