BonChon Is Opening in Salem

A group of Korean fried chicken franchises with three locations in the Boston area and Eastern Massachusetts is going to be opening a fourth, with this one coming to the North Shore.

According to a Twitter post from over the weekend, BonChon is planning to open in Salem, with a check on their website confirming that it is indeed on its way. Based on its other locations, the new shop on Essex Street will have fried wings, drumsticks, strips, and combos, with soy sauce, hot sauce, and half-and-half being the sauce choices offered. (Other Korean options are also available, including bulgogi, kimchi, and bibim bap.)

BonChon was once recognized by CNN's Eatocracy blog as being one of the best places in the entire country for wings.

Once it opens, the Salem location of BonChon will join other locations in Allston, Cambridge's Harvard Square, and Lowell, along with a number of others across the United States and in other parts of the world.

[November 30 update: Eater Boston mentions that BonChon has soft-opened, with a Facebook page from the restaurant indicating that it has a limited menu and hours from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM for lunch and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for dinner; it looks like an official opening with a full menu and regular hours is coming very soon, and that the menu could actually be expanded today.]

The address for this new Asian spot in Salem is: BonChon, 299 Essex Street, Salem, MA, 01970. The website for BonChon can be found at: http://www.bonchon.com/
