Gordon's Fine Wines and Liquors Is Taking Over the Wine Cellar Space in Boston's Downtown Crossing

It looks like a popular group of liquor stores located in the suburbs of Boston will be bringing a new one to the heart of the city.

According to a legal notice sent to us by a source, Gordon's Fine Wines and Liquors is looking to open in Downtown Crossing, taking over the site on Temple Place where the Wine Cellar is located. Little else is currently known about the proposed transfer of businesses other than the fact that the new shop is looking to be open until 11:00 PM.

Gordon's Fine Wines and Liquors, which says on its Twitter page that it is "the leading purveyor of fine wines, spirits and beer in our New England stores and online," has locations in Waltham, Watertown, and Newtonville.

The address for the Wine Cellar (and the new location of Gordon's) is 39 Temple Place, Boston, MA, 02111.

Thanks to @DGoodison for initially bringing this to our attention.

[October 26 update: Eater Boston states that Gordon's has gotten the green light to open in Downtown Crossing, and that it will include "a mini version" of Moody's in Waltham within the store, with the deli counter offering such items as cheeses, charcuterie, pre-made sandwiches to go, and, eventually, sandwiches that are made to order along with sliced meats, with products being under the New England Charcuterie label. If all goes as planned, expect the new location of Gordon's (and Moody's) to open sometime in the early winter.]

[December 30 update: A new article from Eater Boston notes that Gordon's (and the Moody's deli counter) has softly opened in the former Wine Cellar space.]
