According to a couple of sources, James's Gate in Jamaica Plain is shuttered, with the closing apparently taking place last night. No reason was given for the closure of the McBride Street dining and drinking spot, though it appears that it may have been sudden, with at least some of the staff being told about the place closing down today.
James's Gate has been featured on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants site as an under-the-radar Irish pub that is known in part for its fireplace and traditional feel, especially on the bar side. The review can be found at this link:

James's Gate first opened in 1997.
The address for this now-closed pub in Jamaica Plain was: James's Gate, 5-11 McBride St, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130.
[September 4 update: The Jamaica Plain News shows a note posted on the doors of James's Gate that has the following message: "Dear faithful patrons, We regret to inform you James's Gate had to close its doors. Thank you all for all your support over the years. We will miss all and hope to see you around the JP community. Sincerely, James’s Gate staff."]
[September 15 update: There had been some chatter that James's Gate could possible reopen, but a few sources are now saying that this will definitely not be happening.]
