Eater Boston mentions that Il Molo is planning to open on Commercial Street, taking over the space where Davide was for approximately 15 years until closing in early 2014. The article states that Donato Frattarolli of Lucia Ristorante on nearby Hanover Street (as well as in Winchester) is behind the new spot; Frattarolli had originally purchased Davide with the plan being to open a restaurant tentatively called Donato & Gianni, though that name--along with the Italian steakhouse concept--was apparently changed at some point along the way. The upcoming Il Molo is described as a "serious seafood" restaurant featuring New England-focused dishes that have Italian and Mediterranean influences, according to its website and its Facebook page.
The now-closed Davide was known in part for being featured on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
The address for this upcoming restaurant in the North End is: Il Molo, 326 Commercial Street, Boston, MA, 02109. Its website will be at http://ilmoloboston.com/
