A Southern-style restaurant is getting ready to open in the northern suburbs of Boston, moving into the space where a bakery-cafe had been.
According to a source, The Porch: Southern Fare is opening in Wakefield, taking over the former Mola spot on Tuttle Street just west of the center of town. Based on its Facebook page, the new eatery will offer such items as macaroni and cheese, collard greens, biscuits, fried chicken, meat loaf, pulled pork, an oyster mushroom po' boy, and chess pie, a type of custard pie that is popular in the South and includes the use of cornmeal. If all goes as planned, The Porch opens on Wednesday, January 20 [ed note--the restaurant did open on the 20th].
The address for this new restaurant in Wakefield is: The Porch: Southern Fare, 41 Tuttle Street, Wakefield MA, 01880. Its Facebook page can be found at https://www.facebook.com/theporchsouthern/
