Strega in Boston's North End Closed for Renovations; Plans to Reopen Next Month

One of the best-known restaurants in the North End of Boston is shuttered, though it will soon reopen after upgrades are made to the space.

A Twitter post from @ConciergeBoston indicates that Strega on Hanover Street is closed for renovations, one day after a Chowhound poster said that the dining spot was "gutted" inside. The picture on the Twitter page now shows dumpsters placed out front and the storefront being blocked off by wood. It is not yet known what changes may be coming to the Strega space; @ConciergeBoston does say that the restaurant will remain closed until March 3.

Strega is owned by Nick Varano, who also runs (through the Varano Restaurant Group) Strega Waterfront at Fan Pier, Nico and Rina's Pizzeria & Cafe in the North End, Strip by Strega at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, Caffe Strega in the Back Bay, Strega Prime in Woburn, and an upcoming--and currently unnamed--dining spot somewhere in Cambridge

The address for Strega in the North End is 379 Hanover Street, Boston, MA, 02113. Its website can be found at http://www.stregaristorante.com/
