Belfry to Open in Former Home Ice Sports Bar Space in Quincy

Last fall, we reported that the people behind an upscale tavern in Quincy would be opening a new spot where a sports bar had been. Now we have learned a bit more about the upcoming place.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Belfry is planning to open on Washington Street in the former Home Ice Sports Bar space, and the team behind the nearby Townshend on Hancock Street will be opening the spot, which is being described as an "urban beer hall" that features pub fare and fresh oysters. The post says that if all goes as planned, the new restaurant and bar could be opening by the late summer or early fall.

Home Ice Sports Bar first opened in early 2014, taking over the space where Mari's Place had once been; The Townshend debuted in May of 2015.

The address for the upcoming Belfry is 35 Washington Street, Quincy, MA, 02169.

[February 21, 2018 update: The Quincy Sun mentions that Belfry could be opening this spring, and that Devin Adams of The Townshend will be the manager of the place as well as a partner. (Adams says that the place will basically be a "craft-beer hall.")]

[July 5, 2018 update: According to City of Quincy consultant and publicist Kerry J. Byrne, Belfry (formerly Belfry Hall) plans to open in August.]
