Davio's Plans to Open in Former Bobby's Burger Palace Space at the Burlington Mall

A local group of upscale Italian restaurants is looking to open a new location--and this one would move into the space where a burger spot owned by a celebrity chef had been.

According to a source, Davio's is planning to open at the Burlington Mall, with a projects section within the town site showing that it would take over the former Bobby's Burger Palace space. The notes says that the proposed dining spot could have seating for 226, with the space possibly having a main dining area and a cafe dining area. The projects section also mentions a date of March 16, but it is not yet known if this an opening date or a hearing date.

Currently, locations of Davio's can be found in Boston's Park Square, Chestnut Hill, Foxboro, and Lynnfield, along with Manhattan, Philadelphia, King of Prussia, PA, and Atlanta--and another new location is coming to the South Shore Plaza in Braintree as well.

Bobby Flay first opened Bobby's Burger Palace in January of 2013, with the place closing its doors for good this past December.

[March 13 update: According to a source, the March 16 date is indeed just a planning board hearing date, so the new Davio's will not be opening then (as soon as we find out when it might open, we will post another update here).]

[April 25 update: The Daily Times Chronicle indicates that plans for Davio's to open in the former Bobby's Burger Palace space appear to have fallen through, as a location of The Friendly Toast will open there instead.]
