A new dining spot is replacing a Mexican restaurant on Route 1 in Saugus, and the name it had planned to use will have to be changed because of a conflict.
The Saugus Advertiser is reporting that town selectmen have approved of Jeffrey Floramo's plans to open a new eatery where Papagayo had been, but Floramo--whose uncle runs Floramo's in Chelsea--will not be able to use the planned name of Floramo's Clubhouse because a relative took issue with using the Floramo name for the place. A check on the Twitter page for the Chelsea spot shows a tweet linking to the Saugus Advertiser article and saying that "This is no affiliation with Floramo's in Chelsea. People are using our reputation."
The article says that Jeffrey Floramo is looking to have a similar concept to that of Floramo's in Chelsea, with ribs and Italian dishes among the offerings.
Papagayo closed its Saugus location around the beginning of this year, with other locations in Boston's Fort Point, Downtown Crossing, and Somerville's Assembly Row remaining in operation.
The address for the new restaurant from Jeffrey Floramo is 817 Broadway (Route 1), Saugus, MA, 01906.
[November 23 update: According to a Facebook post, the new restaurant taking over the former Papagayo space is now open, and it is called Grill House. (Thanks to @CappyinBoston for bringing this to our attention.)]
