Blue Bottle Coffee to Open Locations in Downtown Boston, Prudential Center

by Marc Hurwitz

A few days ago, we reported that a San Francisco-based coffee roaster had opened its first retail shop in the Boston area. Now we have learned that two other locations are on their way as well this year.

According to an article in Boston Magazine, Blue Bottle Coffee is planning to open shops at 100 Federal Street in downtown Boston and at the Prudential Center in the Back Bay, with both scheduled to open sometime in 2018. (We had mentioned earlier that a location would be coming to the Back Bay, but didn't know exactly where at the time.) Once they open, the two stores will join another on Bow Street in Cambridge's Harvard Square, with that outlet officially opening over the past weekend.

Blue Bottle Coffee is considered part of the "third-wave" of specialty coffee shops that focus on high-quality beans; its website can be found at https://bluebottlecoffee.com/

[July 9 update: A new article from Eater Boston says that the Prudential location of Blue Bottle Coffee opens this week, with a community day coming up tomorrow (Tuesday, July 10) and its grand opening taking place on Wednesday.]
