Centre Street Cafe in Jamaica Plain to Become Little Dipper

by Marc Hurwitz

A restaurant in Jamaica Plain that was sold and reconcepted a few years ago is going to morph into a brand new dining spot.

According to an article from Boston Magazine, Centre Street Cafe is expected to close down in the middle of May and reopen a couple of weeks later as Little Dipper, with the new place being a space-themed diner that will eventually be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The post mentions that the eatery will offer American fare with Southern, Cajun, Southwestern influences, with blackened redfish and fried chicken sandwiches being a couple of options.

The team behind Tres Gatos in JP bought Centre Street Cafe in 2014, changing it from an eclectic dining spot to more of an Italian restaurant; David Doyle and Mari Perez-Alers, who are co-founders of Tres Gatos and the nearby Casa Verde, will be behind Little Dipper as well, along with chef Robyn McGrath (Sel de la Terre, Ten Tables Cambridge) and her wife Leila Asher.

The address for Centre Street Cafe (and the upcoming Little Dipper) is 669a Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130.
