A new Italian spot is moving into a temporary home in Boston's South End, taking over the space where a Mediterranean eatery had been for the past several months, and a big name within the local restaurant scene is behind the upcoming place.
Boston Magazine is reporting that Ripasso is opening within the Wink & Nod space on Appleton Street on September 18 for the next six months or so, replacing Humaari. The person behind the upcoming Italian eatery is Tony Susi, the owner of the long-closed Sage in the North End (and briefly, the South End) and he has also been involved with such places as Mamma Maria and the now-closed Davide in the North End. The article says that updated versions of some of the dishes from Sage will be offered at Ripasso, as well as other entrees, small plates, desserts, and wine and cocktail options.
Humaari (which is run by Louis DiBiccari of the former Tavern Road) and the upcoming Ripasso are a number of spots that have operated at Wink & Nod, with a few others being Pareja, Pelekasis, Gita, Akinto, and Little Owl Tavern. (The website for Wink & Nod can be found at http://winkandnod.com/)
