Newman's Bakery in Swampscott Has Reopened

by Marc Hurwitz

A decades-old bakery on the North Shore is back in business after being shut down for nearly a year because of medical issues, a car accident, and more.

According to an article from the Swampscott Reporter, Newman's Bakery on Humphrey Street is open once again, with co-owners Jessica and Bernard Newman reopening the shop on January 9 after a stretch where both owners battled health issues while a car accident also damaged the storefront last February (the place had to deal with equipment issues as well). In the article, Bernard says that "The day we reopened, one woman entered and let out a big scream because she was so happy to see us back up and running. Another woman came in and did a dance....To find out how much people actually care about you. It means so much." The post also mentions that all five employees have returned to the shop.

Newman's Bakery has been in business since 1966.

The address for this reopened bakery is 252 Humphrey Street, Swampscott, MA, 01907.
