A brand new wine bar has come to the Back Bay of Boston, and it is connected to a French restaurant in the same building.
According to a Twitter post from @n1vux, 1855 Bar a Vin is now open on Newbury Street, with the place being directly above La Voile--and under the same ownership. The website for La Voile mentions that the name comes from the fact that 1855 was "the year of the first official classification of Bordeaux wines following the World's Fair in Paris," while also saying that the bar offers 250 French wines as well as French cuisine, with the focus being on small plates.
In addition to its Newbury Street location, La Voile also has a restaurant in the Washington Square section of Brookline.
The address for 1855 Bar a Vin is 259 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02116. The web page for the wine bar can be found at http://www.lavoilerestaurants.com/1855-2/
