Italo Bakery in South Medford Appears to Have Closed for Good

by Marc Hurwitz

Last summer, we reported that an Italian bakery that was a longtime favorite for pizza had shut down for at least the time being. Now we have learned that this looks like a permanent closure.

According to a source, Italo in South Medford now has a "For Lease" sign out front, indicating that the Main Street shop will not be reopening. Back in July of 2018, the bakery shut down apparently because of a sick family member overseas, but there had also been chatter that it had closed for good. No updates have been given since last summer, but now with the sign being posted in one of its windows, it appears that Italo will indeed not be coming back.

Italo has been known in part for its bakery pizza, along with such items as Italian cookies and scali bread.

The address for Italo Bakery was 509 Main Street, Medford, MA, 02155.
