Last fall, we reported that a new bakery was taking over the space where a suburban bagel shop had been. Now we have learned that it won't be the only food spot coming to that space.
According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Jose's Torta Mexicana is opening in part of the former Bagels by Us space in Arlington, with an earlier post in Your Arlington confirming that it is indeed coming to half of that Mass. Ave. space while--as stated before--Butternut Bakehouse will move into the other half. Both the Your Arlington post and an Instagram page from the upcoming Jose's Torta Mexicana indicate that the person behind Jose's in Cambridge is also behind this spot, while the Instagram page shows that the restaurant will be offering Mexican tortas and more, though a menu has not been seen as of yet.
Bagels by Us closed last March after being in business for more than 20 years.
Based on the Instagram page for the place, it looks like the address for Jose's Torta Mexicana will be 793 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, MA, 02476.
