A new Italian restaurant is on its way to the western suburbs of Boston, and the person behind it received some national recognition a couple of years ago.
According to an article in the Needham Times and Wicked Local, Chef Mike's is opening on Highland Avenue in Needham, taking over the space that had been home to a location of D'Angelo. The post says that the eatery will be a fast-casual spot that serves traditional Italian food, and that owner Mike Fucci is known in part for his winning an episode of the Food Network show "Cutthroat Kitchen" in 2017. Among the items offered at Chef Mike's will be a Chicago-style Italian beef sandwich with provolone cheese, sweet vinegar peppers, and giardiniera (an Italian relish), and Fucci--who says "Enough of the obnoxious foofy crap that goes on a plate"--will have everything made fresh daily, noting that "if I don't sell something it goes to the local fire department, the police department or town hall. Any first responder, I don't care, they get it."
If all goes as planned, Chef Mike's will open its doors in July.
The address for Chef Mike's is 73 Highland Avenue, Needham, MA, 02494.
