Commune Kitchen Space in East Arlington Is Closing; Breadboard Bakery to Replace It

An award-winning suburban bistro that is known in part for its pizza is shutting down and a new business is taking over the space.

According to a poster within the Arlington, MA Pizza Discussions Facebook group page, Commune Kitchen on Broadway in East Arlington is closing, with Megan Langelier--who is one of the people behind the eatery--joining the conservation, confirming that it is indeed saying farewell at the end of business hours on Friday, June 28. Langelier says that "We have sold our business to someone who is going to do great things with the space....Ultimately, we have decided to move on to new opportunities....we are each moving into new opportunities, which will be announced via instagram in the coming weeks."

Commune Kitchen first opened in June of 2016, offering pizza with a variety of topping combinations as well as such items as tartines, poutine, cheesy breadsticks, fried brussels sprouts, tea, coffee, beer, wine, and cider. The restaurant has received high marks in the media over the past three years, with The Boston Globe including it among its 47 best new restaurants in 2017 and Eater Boston mentioning it among its 25 essential pizzas in the Boston area earlier this year.

The address for Commune Kitchen is 203 Broadway, Arlington, MA, 02474. Its website is at http://www.commune-kitchen.com/

[June 24 update: A Facebook post indicates that Breadboard Bakery will open in East Arlington, taking over the space where Commune Kitchen currently resides. (As reported in another article here, Commune Kitchen will be closing at the end of business hours on Friday, June 28.)]
