It looks like an iconic department store restaurant that is based in New York will be making its way to Boston.
According to an article from CNBC, Freds at Barneys New York is planning to open at Copley Place in the Back Bay, with the restaurant joining five other locations including two in Manhattan. The dining spot dates back to the 1920s when a counter-service eatery opened in the original Barneys location on Seventh Avenue, and today it features mostly American and Italian fare in an upscale environment. If all goes as planned, the new location of Freds at Barneys New York at Copley Place will open in October, and it will feature a "much larger bar space" that will serve as a "focal point" according to CNBC.

[October 22 update: It looks like Freds at Barneys New York will not be coming to Boston after all, as Universal Hub states (via ABC 7) that all locations of Barneys will be closing (including the Boston outlet) in the wake of a bankruptcy filing by the chain of department stores.]
