A Mexican restaurant in Cambridge with roots very far away has closed after a relatively brief time in business.
The Crimson is reporting that Zambrero in Harvard Square is no longer in business, with the Mount Auburn Street eatery shutting down last week. This is one of several Mexican-based dining spots to close in the square over recent times, including locations of Chipotle and Qdoba along with an outlet of Boloco, the last of which resided in the space that Zambrero took over in March of 2018. It is not known what might go into the space at this point in time, so stay tuned for updates.
Zambrero is a group of Mexican restaurants that started out in 2005 in Australia; the chain, which is known in part for its efforts to tackle world hunger, has two remaining outlets in the United States; one in Warwick, RI, and another in Raleigh, NC.
The address for the the now-closed Zambrero in Harvard Square was 71 Mt. Auburn Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138. The website for Zambrero can be found at https://www.zambrero.com/
