Notch Brewing in Salem Plans to Open Brewery and Taproom in Brighton

[Ed note: This article was updated on October 17 to reflect a location given, plus more information on the facility.]

It looks like a North Shore brewing company will be expanding to a second location.

According to a Facebook post from Chris Lohring, Notch Brewing in Salem is planning to open a new brewery and taproom at an as-of-yet undisclosed location, with Lohring (who is the founder of Notch) saying that more news on the plans will be coming next week. Notch, which first opened along the South River on the outer edge of Salem's downtown area in the summer of 2016, is known in part for its session beers, while the space itself has an outdoor beer garden along the river.

The address for Notch Brewing is 283R Derby Street, Salem, MA, 01970. Its website can be found at https://www.notchbrewing.com

[October 17 update: According to a press release, Notch will open a brewery, taproom/beer hall, and year-round outdoor biergarten at the old Charles River Speedway Headquarters site on Western Avenue in Brighton. In addition, the Speedway building may also become home to retail shops, a full-service restaurant, and food vendors, and while Notch will not have a kitchen, customers will be able to bring food in from the neighboring spots. If all goes as planned, the new location of Notch will open in the summer of 2020.]
