A Mexican restaurant in Cambridge that has been around for a long time could be shutting down, though it appears to be by no means written in stone as of yet.
According to a Facebook post from the place, Jose's on Sherman Street may be closing, with the note simply saying, "I wanted to share a news, well not so good news.... we are closing Jose's for good." The note has since been changed to "I wanted to share a news, well not so good news.... no parking lot starting November, and with out the parking lot, we may have to close Jose's," so it appears that this is not a definite closure. (Stay tuned for more updates as they come in.)
Jose's has been in business since the mid-1980s, with the present owner taking over the dining spot a bit more than 15 years ago. An Arlington restaurant called Jose's Torta Mexicana opened this spring and has a connection to the Cambridge location of Jose's, and they also have a food truck by MIT.
The address for Jose's Mexican Restaurant in Cambridge is 131 Sherman Street, Cambridge, MA, 02140.
[September 20 update: The Facebook thread that is linked to above gives more details on the closure of Jose's, saying that the restaurant is shutting down because the parking lot will apparently no longer be free to customers after October, so unless a solution can be worked out, Jose's plans to close once their lease runs out. (We are still trying to get an exact closing date.) The Arlington location of Jose's and the food truck at MIT will remain in operation, however.]
[October 8 update: A more recent Facebook post from the restaurant says that "We are not going anywhere, anytime soon!" though a poster on the thread indicates that it apparently still depends on the parking situation there, as the lot may be closing in November.]
