A North Cambridge wine bar that is located in a rather unique space is moving, as the building in which it resides is being sold.
According to an article from Cambridge Day, UpperWest held a moving and fundraising party this week, as the United American Veterans Post building in which it is housed (in the structure's basement) is on the market. It is not known where the dining and drinking spot might go, though co-owner Kim Courtney says that "our goal is to hopefully remain in walking distance to continue to serve our current guests."
UpperWest, which originally has been looking at a space between Harvard Square and Central Square before moving to its current home in North Cambridge three years ago, has been in ongoing disputes with the License Commission and other city officials, including an issue that centers around the use of tea lights within the dining area.
The current address for UpperWest is 1 Cedar Street, Cambridge, MA, 02140. Its website can be found at http://www.upperwestcambridge.com/
[November 6 update: According to its website, UpperWest is now closed as it makes plans to open in another location.]
