Aegean Restaurant in Framingham to Remain Open for Now

Last month it was reported that the future of a longtime favorite for Greek food was in question as it appeared to be on the auction block. Now we have learned that the restaurant will remain in operation.

According to a source, the Aegean Restaurant in Framingham is still open and will not be closing after all, and its auction--that was scheduled for today--is off. This has been confirmed by the restaurant itself, as they tell us that "it is not happening" and "we are open for business." In late January, it looked like the Route 30 dining spot was going to be saying farewell and that a foreclosure auction was going to be taking place at 2:00 PM this afternoon; it is not sure what happened to keep the Aegean in business, so if we get any more details, we will post an update here.

The Aegean Restaurant first opened in Framingham approximately 40 years ago, and was joined by another location in Watertown in 2001; the Framingham outlet moved to its current location in 2005 while the Watertown location shut down in 2016.

The address for the Aegean Restaurant in Framingham is 257 Cochituate Road (Route 30), Framingham, MA, 01701. Its website is at http://www.aegeanrestaurants.com/

[February 25 update: The Framingham Source says that the Aegean Restaurant has filed for bankruptcy and that the auction has been postponed until April 28, with Clinton Bank having a foreclosure notice for the dining spot.]

[February 27 update: A Facebook post from the restaurant says that "The Aegean Restaurant is still open and will remain open for business as usual. The Ntasios Family LLC is currently undergoing a business reorganization process which does not involve closing of the restaurant." With the auction now scheduled for late April, this note seems to indicate that the people behind the Aegean have two months to reorganize, assuming the auction doesn't get pushed back again to give them more time.]
