UpperWest Hopes to Move to Dudley Street in North Cambridge

A Cambridge wine bar that had to leave its rather unique space last fall has been planning to reopen in a new space nearby, and now we have discovered where it might be moving to, though with the pandemic now surging it isn't known when--or if--it might be debuting in the space.

According to an Instagram post from the business, UpperWest is planning to open on Dudley Street, which is basically around the corner from its old home in the basement of the United American Veterans Post building at the corner of Cedar Street and Massachusetts Avenue  in North Cambridge. The post says, however, that "We are sad that if we had been properly granted our package store license, our store would be open and we would be helping our friends and neighbors right now, providing them with groceries, hand made pasta, and special wines and beers. Instead, our prospective space on Dudley Street sits empty all this time, since we closed in October. Who knows now, after Covid19, whether we will be able to ever open there." It isn't known for sure which space on Dudley Street they hope to move into, though it could be the former Dudley Street Market space at 73 Dudley Street, which is one of the only properties on the street that is zoned for commercial use.

UpperWest, which had once been looking at a space between Harvard Square and Central Square before moving to its home below the United American Veterans Post in 2016, had to say goodbye to the Cedar Street space sometime around late October or early November of last year, with the structure going up for sale.
