A Boston restaurant that has one of the region's biggest names behind it has been transformed into a place that is helping out those in the restaurant industry who have lost their jobs.
According to an article from CBS Boston, Blue Dragon in the city's Fort Point neighborhood has been converted into a food pantry, with celebrity chef and owner Ming Tsai saying that "I'm not sleeping thinking about my family, these workers that are below the radar....To be able to give families at least that one meal they don't have to worry about, it's an amazing feeling." The post states that workers at the A Street restaurant prepare 300 or more meals each day that are then packed onto a food truck for delivery, with chef Christine Canlas saying that "To be able to give families at least that one meal they don't have to worry about, it's an amazing feeling."
Restaurant and hospitality workers in the Boston area and beyond have been hit particularly hard as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, with more than 93,000 industry workers in Massachusetts filing for unemployment over the past six weeks, according to CBS Boston.
