Update: Il Capriccio in Waltham Has Closed Down; Workers May Reopen Restaurant in New Location

[Ed note: This article was updated to reflect new information as of June 13.]

An award-winning suburban Italian restaurant that has been around for a long time has shut down, though there appears to be a chance that it could return in another space.

According to three sources, including @JeremyKrantz, Il Capriccio in Waltham has closed its doors, with one source saying that they vacated the Main Street space late last week and that the owner is "moving on." The restaurant, which first opened in 1981, was known for its Northern Italian fare and its wine list, with the place getting much in the way of accolades over the years, including from Zagat, Boston Magazine, James Beard, Gourmet Magazine, Wine Spectator, and more, according to its website.

Another source tells us that while the owner is definitely leaving the restaurant business, workers at Il Capriccio are looking into opening the place back up in a new location, with a Facebook post seeming to hint at this, saying that the restaurant "just may emerge in another form in another location sometime in the future."]

The address for Il Capriccio was 888 Main Street, Waltham, MA, 02453.
