The Garrison House to Replace Magnolia Smokehouse in Brookline Village

A Brookline restaurant that features barbecue items and cocktails is shutting down, but a new dining spot that will offer southern-style dishes will take its place.

According to an article from Wicked Local, Magnolia Smokehouse on Harvard Street in Brookline Village is being replaced by the Garrison House, a new restaurant from Hawkeye Hospitality (Elm Street Taproom, Five Horses Tavern, Worden Hall) that will be "an upscale, comfort food restaurant" that features live music. The menu at the upcoming eatery--which hopes to open in early 2021--will offer options such as fried okra, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken club sandwiches, charcuterie, pot pies, and skirt steak.

Magnolia Smokehouse first opened in 2016, with an affiliated bar called The Ellis Room also opening underneath the restaurant. Both spots were operated by East Coast Tavern Group, which is also behind Emmet's in Boston and Norwood along with Carrie Nation and Scholars in Boston.

The address for the Garrison House (and the now-closed Magnolia Smokehouse) is 6 Harvard Square, Brookline, MA, 02445.

[August 25, 2021 update: A boston.com article indicates that the Garrison House plans to open in mid-September.]
