A year and a half ago, it was reported that a restaurant and bar in Charlestown known in part for its pizza was going to be opening a new spot within an historic space nearby, and now we have learned that the place has quietly opened its doors.
According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Dovetail is now open in the former Navy Yard Bistro space on 6th Street, and as mentioned earlier, the people behind Brewer's Fork on Moulton Street are behind this spot as well. The poster mentions that the new eatery has a sandwich counter for takeout set up during the day and a restaurant set up for dinner service, and a check on the restaurant's Instagram page shows such items as soups, salads, sandwiches, chips, sides, and cookies available at the daytime counter, while the dinner menu includes such options as focaccia, oysters, charcuterie, chicken fried quail, steak tartare, pear agnolotti, pan-seared trout, veal schnitzel, and steak frites.
Navy Yard Bistro had been in business for approximately 15 years until closing in 2019, while Brewer's Fork first opened in 2015.
The address for Dovetail is 1 6th Street, Charlestown, MA, 02129. Its website can be found at http://www.dovetailcharlestown.com/
