Italian Express Pizzeria in East Boston Has Closed

An Italian restaurant that once gained national recognition via a popular TV show has shut down.

According to a Facebook post from the place, Italian Express Pizzeria in East Boston is no longer in business, with the post saying "We regret to inform you that Italian Express Pizzeria is now closed because of issues due to the pandemic. Thank you for your many years of patronage and support." The restaurant, which first opened on Sumner Street 12 years ago after being in two other locations in Eastie, was featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" in 2012, with Fieri trying the frutti di mare and haddock on the episode.

The address for Italian Express Pizzeria was 336 Sumner Street, East Boston, MA, 02128.
