Last year, it was reported that the people behind a Charlestown restaurant and bar might be opening a new dining spot in a nearby space, and now we have learned a little more about the proposed place.
According to a licensing board hearing page within the City of Boston website, Waverly is planning to open on Bunker Hill Street, moving into the space where Grasshopper Cafe had been until closing lasst spring. The notice mentions that Jon Sweeney would be the manager, which confirms that Waverly would indeed have a connection to Monument Restaurant & Tavern on Main Street, while the post also says that the upcoming restaurant hopes to have seating for 65 and a beer and wine license.
The address for Waverly is 231 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, MA, 02129.
[October 4 update: A message from meteorologist Eric Fisher indicates that Waverly is now open, with a Facebook post from Monument confirming this. (Fisher also tells us that the restaurant and bar has a fireplace.)]
