Lucky Stars Bakehouse to Open in Concord

A new bakery appears to be on its way to the western suburbs of Boston.

According to a post within the jobs section of the bostonchefs.com website, Lucky Stars Bakehouse is planning to open in Concord, saying in the listing that it will be "a new, mission-driven gluten-free bakery focused on baking a variety of breads and other baked goods (cookies, bars, etc.)." The address shown within the listing leads to a residential section of town while the website for the place is not yet up and running; as soon as an exact address and any other information is given in the place, we will post an update here.

Gräem Roasted Nuts to Open in Concord

A food shop featuring nuts, chocolate, and more is on its way to an historic space west of Boston.

According to a press release from Linear Retail Properties, Gräem Roasted Nuts is opening in the downtown area of Concord, moving into the Friend Block building at the corner of Main Street and Walden Street. The European-inspired store plans to offer an array of roasted nuts, dried fruits, chocolates, and other locally-sourced items, with the hope being that it will open sometime this summer.

The Friend Block building, which dates back to 1892, had been home to Friend Pharmacy, which eventually became Snow Pharmacy before closing approximately 20 years ago.

The address for this upcoming food shop in Concord is: Gräem Roasted Nuts, 49 Main Street, Concord, MA, 01742.

[September 6 update: A job post within the Craigslist site indicates that Gräem Roasted Nuts plans to open in Concord sometime this month.]

Concord Market Group (Trail's End Cafe, Lincoln Kitchen) Opening Concord Market

The group behind two cafes and a restaurant in the western suburbs of Boston will be opening a market next to one of its cafes.

According to a job post within the bostonchefs.com site, Concord Market Group is opening a retail market just north of Concord Center called Concord Market, with the shop including "high-quality" produce, meats, seafood, and more, as well as prepared foods. An earlier article from the Concord Journal had mentioned that the grocery store will be at the same spot on Lowell Road as Trail's End Cafe (which the group also runs), along with a second Trail's Cafe in the Lincoln Station/Depot area and a restaurant called Lincoln Kitchen, which is also at Lincoln Station.

Based on the Journal article, it appears that Concord Market could open sometime in 2018, but no opening date has been given as of yet.

[July 12, 2018 update: A new post within the jobs section of bostonchefs.com indicates that Concord Market is getting ready for its grand opening and that it is looking for an executive sous chef. the post also mentions that the place will be a "high-end market" that includes a "high-end deli counter, artisanal retail products, craft beer, wine, prepared foods to go, full service meat and fish counters, house made sausages, pates, and smoked meats."]

[September 27, 2018 update: An email sent to us indicates that Concord Market is now open, with a Facebook post from the place confirming this.]

Huge Wheel of Cheese to Make Its Way Through Concord in Horse-Drawn Cart

Last year we wrote about how a gigantic hunk of artisanal cheese was going to make its way through Concord, and this year a similarly huge piece of cheese will be doing the same thing.

Grub Street Boston is reporting that the largest wheel of cheese in the entire Western Hemisphere will be traveling through Concord on a horse-drawn cart on December 6, with its ultimate destination being the Concord Cheese Shop in the center of town. The 400-pound Crucolo, which is from Italy, will start its journey at 3:30 PM, being serenaded by an Italian chorale group along the way. GS also says that Concord Academy's Crucolo Dancers will "prance alongside the cart while 'brandishing large chunks of cheese.'"

The Concord Cheese Shop is located at 29 Walden Street in Concord Center.
