Third Time Ice Cream Is Looking to Open a Brick-and Mortar Shop in East Somerville

It looks like a local ice cream business known for its pop-ups could be opening a permanent space sometime this year.

According to an article from Boston Magazine, Third Time Ice Cream is planning to open a brick-and-mortar shop at an as-of-yet undisclosed location in East Somerville, with an Instagram post from the business saying the following:

As some of you know, we're headed for a permanent home in East Somerville--a home with tables, and chairs, and a patio, and coffee, and breakfast, and lunch, all while still offering our unique take on ice cream. But while our new location is under construction, we thought we would do a little residency to give folks a preview of what our new menu will look like. So we reached out to our friends at Tilde and they have generously offered to be our home away from home for a little bit!

Third Time Ice Cream Founder Nick Ladin-Sienne, who comes from such restaurants as Oleana, Sofra, and Puritan + Co., brought the business (as a temporary residence) to Somerville's Bow Market last fall.

Patsy's Pastry Shop in East Somerville Is Reopening

Last last month, we reported that an iconic pastry shop was going to be closing after nearly 50 years in business, though it was leaving the door open to a possible return. Now we have learned that this is indeed what will be happening.

Eater Boston is reporting that four days after shutting down, Patsy's Pastry Shop in East Somerville now has a sign up saying "We are closing for construction on May 4th. We'll reopen at this location when construction is complete." Previously, we had mentioned that although the Broadway shop was closing because a new structure with 19 apartment units was going to take over the space, co-owner Sal Ferrigno did say that they might consider reopening, and that they would have first crack at a ground-level space within the building that is set aside for retail.

Patsy's Pastry Shop first opened in 1968.

Patsy's Pastry Shop in East Somerville Is Closing to Make Way for Apartments

A pastry shop in East Somerville that has been in business for nearly 50 years is getting ready to shut its doors.

The Somerville Times is reporting that Patsy's Pastry Shop on Broadway will be closing down on May 4, with a new structure consisting of 19 apartment units taking its place. The article mentions that the new building will have space for a shop of some kind on the ground level, and that Patsy's has first crack at the space if they want it, but co-owner Sal Ferrigno indicates that while it is something they may consider, they have not made a definite decision on this, adding that "none of us have been on a vacation for a very long time."

Patsy's Pastry Shop, which first opened in 1968, has been known in part for its variety of cakes, pies, cookies, and pastries, including a number of Italian treats (cannoli, amaretto, anise cookies, almond biscotti, etc.).
