Taqueria Jalisco Opens in East Boston's Orient Heights Neighborhood

Last summer, it was reported that a Mexican restaurant in East Boston was planning to open a second location not too far away, and now we have learned that it is up and running.

According to an article from Eater Boston, Taqueria Jalisco is now open in Orient Heights in Eastie, moving into the former Donna's space on Saratoga Street and joining its existing location on Bennington Street in Day Square. The post mentions that the new location has a full liquor license and it also has "a lot" more seating for dining in, and it also has an expanded menu. (Its Instagram page states that the new outlet is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.)

Taqueria Jalisco Plans to Expand to Second Location in Orient Heights in East Boston

A Mexican restaurant in East Boston may be joined by a second location in another part of Eastie.

According to a licensing board hearing page, Taqueria Jalisco is seeking a liquor license to open in Orient Heights, with the plan being to move into the former Donna's space on Saratoga Street. If approved, the new outlet would join its location on Bennington Street in Day Square, with the new one having seating for approximately 68 and bar seating for 7.

Milano's Deli in East Boston Has Reopened

An old-fashioned Italian deli that is known in part for its pizza is back more than a year after it suffered major damage in a fire.

The Eastie Times is reporting that Milano's Deli in the Orient Heights section of East Boston reopened on Tuesday, offering such favorites as pizza, arancini, subs, and other items until running out of food around mid-afternoon. The post says that for now, the shop will offer a limited menu until "all the kinks are worked out."

In June of 2017, a fire in the kitchen section of Milano's resulted in serious damage to the inside of the place, forcing them to close and rebuild.

Renegade's Pub Is Taking Over Victory Pub Space in East Boston

It looks like a new gastropub is coming to East Boston, and it will move into the space where a neighborhood dive bar had been.

The East Boston Times-Free Press is reporting that Peter Ackerman, who owns two locations of Salvatore's, is planning to open a dining and drinking spot called Renegade's Pub in the former Victory Pub space in Orient Heights. The article says that the Bennington Street spot will have seating for 35 and will feature a wide variety of burgers and beer options, and that the space will apparently undergo major renovations before opening.

Last fall, Ackerman took ownership of Salvatore's in downtown Boston along with the Seaport District location, as founder Sal Lupoli transferred ownership of all locations to a few of the restaurant group's managers,

[May 5, 2017 update: Eater Boston hints that Renegade's Pub appears to be very close to opening, as it has only a "few final inspection hurdles" to clear before it debuts (possibly by the end of next week).
