Aloe Natural Acai & Coffee Shop Is Opening in the Former Seabiscuit Space in East Boston

It looks like a cafe in Chelsea is opening a new location on the East Boston waterfront, moving into a space where a bakery-cafe had been for approximately three years.

According to a source, Aloe Natural Acai & Coffee Shop is planning to open in the former Seabiscuit space at the Boston Harbor Shipyard & Marina on Marginal Street, with an Instagram post from Caught in Eastie showing a photo of a "coming soon" sign for the place going up. This will be a second location of the place, with the original shop being found on Everett Avenue in Chelsea.

Seabiscuit first opened in the summer of 2021, shutting its doors in March of this year; it had previously been located in Somerville. (The East Boston space had also been home to KO Catering & Pies and before that, Scup's in the Harbour.)

The address for the new location of Aloe Natural Acai & Coffee Shop the Boston Harbor Shipyard & Marina is 256 Marginal Street (Building 16), East Boston, MA, 02128. The website for the business is at https://aloenaturalcafe.com/

[September 9 update: According to multiple sources, including a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, the new location of Aloe Natural Acai & Coffee Shop in East Boston is now open.]

According to a press release, Vitality Bowls opens at Arsenal Yards in Watertown on June 10, with the outlet being the first in Massachusetts for the California-based business, and a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page also says that another location is coming to Central Square in Cambridge. Once the two locations open, expect to see açaí bowls that are topped with a variety of superfoods along with salads, toasts, wraps, smoothies, and more.

Zoe Acai Bar & Juicery Is Opening in the Former Bruegger's Bagels Space in Cambridge's Porter Square

A new dining spot that features bowls is on its way to Cambridge, opening in the space where a location of a chain of bagel places had been.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, Zoe Acai Bar & Juicery is planning to open in Porter Square, moving into the old Bruegger's Bagels space on Mass. Ave. The Facebook page for the upcoming place indicates that it will offer acai bowls along with cold-pressed juices, though its website is not running yet so we have not been able to see a menu for the spot. A Chinese restaurant called Zoe's is located a few blocks away on Beacon Street in Somerville, though it does not appear that there is any connection between the two places; if we find out that there is, we will post an update here.

The address for Zoe Acai Bar & Juicery is 1876 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02140. The website for the place will be at https://zoeacaibar.com/

Update: Liv's Juice & Acai Bar Is Opening in Medford

[Ed note: This article was updated on March 3, 2020 to reflect a slight name change--and that the place is now open.]

It looks like a brand new dining spot featuring bowls, juices, and more is on its way to a space just north of Boston.

According to its website, Liv's Juice & Acai Bar (not Olivia's Juice & Acai Bar, as it was originally planning to be called) is opening in Medford, with The Passionate Foodie telling us that the business will be opening at Station Landing. (A earlier picture on the Instagram page for the business confirms this, moving into a space next to Yoki.). If all goes as planned, Liv's could be opening sometime this fall.

The address for Liv's Juice & Acai Bar is 56 Station Landing, Medford, MA, 02155. Its website can be found at https://www.livsjuicebar.com/

[March 3, 2020 update: An article from Wicked Local mentions that Liv's is now open, and that Neil Paris, (who is also known as Romeo on KISS 108), and Christopher Butts are behind the place. The menu for the eatery shows such options as bowls, artisan toasts, smoothies, juices, house-made peanut butter, muffins, edible cookie dough, and more.]

SoBol Is Opening a Location in Beverly

by Marc Hurwitz

A Long Island-based chain that features acai bowls and more is expanding to the local area, with its first Massachusetts location being on the North Shore.

According to an email, SoBol is opening in Beverly, with the Commodore Plaza spot being a vegetarian-friendly place that offers such items as customizable acai bowls, pitaya bowls, green bowls, and smoothies. Once it opens--possibly in October--the new outlet will join a number of locations in New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.

SoBol, which is headquartered in Patchogue, started out in Sayville (also on Long Island) in the fall of 2014, according to a page from the company.

The address for this new eatery in Beverly is: SoBol, 43-47 Enon Street (Route 1A), Beverly, MA, 01915. The website for the company can be found at https://mysobol.com/

[October 23 update: A message sent from one of the owners indicates that the Beverly location of SoBol hopes to open in early November and that it will be an express location as opposed to a full-service location like what is found on Long Island.]

[November 6 update: A Facebook post from the place mentions that today is opening day for SoBol in Beverly.]

[Ed note: This article was updated on August 22 to confirm the exact location of the eatery.]

A new eatery that focuses on healthy food options is looking to open in Arlington.

According to a poster on the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, WellBeing Bar is planning to open on Mill Street, with an agenda and meeting notice page within the town site indicating that it would apparently move into the kiosk between Shattuck Hardware and the Minuteman Bikeway (by the Brigham Square Apartments). Based on its logo, the new spot will offer acai bowls and blends that will apparently include a mix of fruits, nuts, seeds, and more.

The town of Arlington will be holding a public hearing on Monday, August 22 to look into allowing WellBeing Bar to operate within the kiosk.

The address for the proposed WellBeing Bar is 30-50 Mill Street, Arlington, MA, 02476. The website for the business is at http://wellbeingbar.com/

[August 22 update: The Arlington Advocate confirms that WellBeing Bar will indeed be housed in the 12 foot by 12 foot kiosk that is next to the bikeway and part of the Brigham Square apartment complex.]
