I had too much to say in a text box, so I made a story for everyone who's had questions about why we're no longer at our Cummings Center location. It's worn many hats over the year (Marino's Cafe, The Hatchery, Flip The Bird Cafe @ Cummings, and last but not least Rogue Kitchen + Provisions) but myself and Anthony have been the ones behind each concept....We also want to give a HUGE shout out thank you to everyone who helped us in our final days, it was a heavy load to carry and short window to get it done, we couldn't have done this without you and we'll never be able to repay your kindness.

The Cummings Center location of Marino's Cafe/The Hatchery/Flip The Bird Cafe/Rogue Kitchen + Provisions got its start more than 10 years ago, with other locations of Flip the Bird currently in operation in Beverly (Cabot Street), Danvers, and Swampscott.

Very little information has been given as of yet on the new spot, though based on the offerings at Daniella's Ristorante and Daniella's Cafe, it could be focusing at least in part on Italian food.

The Falconer Taproom & Kitchen in Beverly Has Closed

A European-style pub on the North Shore that was under the same ownership as a brewery north of Boston has shut down.

According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, The Falconer Taproom & Kitchen in Beverly is now closed, with an Instagram post from the Cabot Street spot saying the following:

To our friends and supporters - this has been a tough day as we regretfully made the decision to close The Falconer. Our team has been working hard over the last few months to find a way to continue, but with a lease that is expiring and continued financial losses we could not find a sustainable path forward. We have been working with our employees today and we are happy to announce that we have found roles for many of them at our Newburyport location, so you can still see some of your favorite faces!....It is unfortunate that we weren't able to address this publicly in our planned time frame, but we were focused on communicating with our staff prior to releasing any public info. Our initial response wasn't appropriate, and we apologize.

The people behind Riverwalk Brewing Co. in Newburyport first opened The Falconer Taproom & Kitchen in late 2022.

The address for the now-closed Falconer Taproom & Kitchen was 280 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA, 01915.

Frank in Beverly Has Closed Permanently; DeVille Cafe & Market to Open in Its Space

A few months ago, it was reported that a North Shore dining spot with a well-known local restaurateur behind it had shuttered, and it wasn't know what the future held for the place. Now we have learned that it has closed for good, though a new location just north of Boston is now open--and a new spot will take over its original space.

According to an Instagram post from the business, the Beverly location of Frank is now closed, with the post saying the following:

While it was our hope to reorganize behind the scenes and reopen our Beverly restaurant alongside our new location in Assembly Row, we were not able to do so. Our former Beverly spot is now in new and capable hands and we'll let them make an announcement when they are ready. Last week, we opened the doors of FRANK at 400 Assembly Row in Somerville. All FRANK gift cards from Beverly will be accepted here.

A post on Threads from johnhall143 indicates (via The Salem News) that DeVille Cafe & Market is the new spot that is getting ready to open in the former Frank space in Beverly, and it will offer breakfast items, grab-and-go lunch and dinner options, prepared foods, and more. The article also says that a restaurant and bar from the people behind the business (Annika Firestone and Alex Weatherup) is slated to open in the space as well, with that coming early next year.

The Beverly location of Frank suddenly closed in August after being in business since 2019, a year after owner Frank McClelland closed L'Espalier in the Back Bay of Boston

The address for the now-closed Frank (and upcoming DeVille Cafe & Market) in Beverly is 110 Rantoul Street, Beverly, MA, 01915. The website DeVille Cafe & Market is at https://devillebeverly.com/ while the website for the Assembly Row location of Frank is at https://farmtofrank.com/

Frank in Beverly Has Closed for the Time Being; Future of Restaurant Unknown

A North Shore dining spot that has a well-known local restaurateur behind it has shuttered, and it isn't known what might become of the place.

Based on information from a source, a Facebook poster who works at the place, and a now-deleted post from the business itself, Frank in Beverly is closed for the time being, and it looks like owner Frank McClelland is planning to do some sort of restructuring with the hope being to open back up at some point. No reason has been given for its closure, nor is it known what changes could be coming if/when it does reopen, so stay tuned for updates.

Frank first opened its doors in 2019, a year after McClelland closed L'Espalier in the Back Bay of Boston; in addition to the Beverly restaurant, McClelland also runs Frankie's Fat Tomatoes at Hub Hall by Boston's North Station.

Kitchen Table Is Opening in Beverly

A new restaurant is coming to the North Shore, and the person behind a now-closed spot known for its BBQ and locally-sourced fare appears to be involved.

According to multiple sources along with a job post within the Craigslist site, Kitchen Table is going to be opening in Beverly, with an earlier licensing board agenda page indicating that William Fogarty is listed as manager. Fogarty was the chef/owner of Scratch Kitchen, a Salem restaurant that shut down in the summer of 2020 after being open for nearly 10 years;

The Craigslist job post mentions that Kitchen Table will also be chef-owned and operated, though it doesn't specifically mention Fogarty; it does say that the restaurant plans to open in May.

Mission Boathouse Is Opening on the Beverly Waterfront

Four years ago, it was reported that a local restaurateur had submitted a proposal for a new dining spot to open at a long-vacant waterfront space on the North Shore, and now we have learned that the restaurant is finally getting close to opening.

According to a source, Mission Boathouse is planning to open soon on the Beverly waterfront, and as mentioned in an earlier article, Marty Bloom (Mission on the Bay Restaurant in Swampscott, Mission Oak Grill in Newburyport) is behind the Water Street restaurant. A Salem News article mentions that the three-story dining spot will have an outdoor deck with firepits on the first floor, along with garage-door windows on the third floor that can open during the warmer months, while all three floors will have views of the ocean--and the menu will have international influences including South American, Asian, French, and Cuban.

Plans were first announced for the restaurant in 2018, though another proposal for the space that went all the way back to 2012 was for a location of the Black Cow, though that fell through along with plans for an outlet of Flatbread Company to open there as well.

The website for Mission Boathouse can be found at https://missionboathouse.com/
