465 Bar and Restaurant Is Opening in the Former Bravo Space at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston

A new dining and drinking spot is on its way to one of Boston's best-known museums, and it is replacing another restaurant that closed last fall.

According to a press release, 465 Bar and Restaurant is opening at the Museum of Fine Arts on July 10, taking over the former Bravo space in the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art. The new spot will offer a seasonal menu that features both small plates and larger entrees using fresh, local ingredients, while beer, wine, cider, cocktails, and mocktails will be available as well. The release says that 465 Bar and Restaurant will have both a dining area and a lounge, and a terrace will be open (weather permitting) during the warmer months.

Bravo shut down in October after 15 years in business, according to an article from Boston Magazine.

The Museum of Fine Arts is located at 465 Huntington Avenue in Boston.

Update: Gardner Cafe in Gardner Museum to Become Cafe G, Move into New Space

[Ed note: This article was updated on December 21 to reflect a name change to the restaurant.]

A cafe within a museum in Boston's Fenway neighborhood has temporarily closed, but it will reopen early next year under a new name in the museum's new wing.

According to their website, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum's new wing will become home to an expanded version of the Gardner Cafe (which will be called Cafe G), with both indoor and outdoor seating available. An article in The Boston Globe mentions that the cafe, which first opened in 2002, will share the new wing with a greenhouse, galleries, space for various educational programs, and a concert hall with a capacity of nearly 300.

The original Gardner Cafe focused mainly on inventive lunch items and desserts, including quiche, chicken pot pie, cod cakes, bread pudding, and gelato.

It appears that Cafe G could reopen by January of 2012, according to the Globe.

[December 21 update: Based on a Craigslist post, it appears that Cafe G is still on track to open in January. The post mentions that the new spot will have a capacity of 100 and it will be a full-service restaurant.]

[January 12, 2012 update: According to artdaily.org, it looks like Cafe G will open a week from today (Thursday, January 19), when the new wing of the museum has its grand opening.]

The address for the upcoming Cafe G (and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum) is 280 Fenway, Boston, MA, 02115. the website can be found at http://www.gardnermuseum.org/
