Munch Mobile Kitchen and Bistro Bar to Debut in Boston

Another new food truck is on its way to Boston, and this one will be focusing on bistro fare and non-alcoholic "cocktails."

A poster on the Chowhound site mentions that Munch Mobile Kitchen & Bistro Bar is going to be hitting the streets of the city possibly this month, with the truck's Twitter page stating that it will feature "elevated American bistro cuisine" as well as  "alcohol inspired N/A mocktails." The truck's website says that the food items will be organic whenever possible, using ingredients that are locally sourced, while the non-alcoholic drinks will "taste like the real thing."

[June 30 update: According to a post on its Facebook page, Munch Mobile Kitchen & Bistro Bar will have a soft opening on Saturday (July 5) at Night Shift Brewing in Everett from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.]

[July 7 update: A new note from its Facebook page indicates that Munch Mobile Kitchen & Bistro Bar was not able to soft-open at Night Shift on Saturday due to "incredibly interwoven politics." It appears that the truck will be launching soon, however, with The Boston Globe mentioning that it is looking to debut in Boston later this month.]

[July 17 update: It looks like Munch Mobile Kitchen & Bistro Bar will try again at Night Shift Brewing in Everett, as a new post on its Facebook page says it will be there on Friday, July 25 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.]

A few of the dishes available from the Munch Mobile Kitchen & Bistro Bar truck include deviled eggs, bruschetta, a lobster salad, wild mushroom sliders, and braised oxtail panini.

Mother Juice Is Opening a Brick-and-Mortar Restaurant in Cambridge's Kendall Square

The folks behind a food/drink truck that focuses on freshly-made juices are going to be opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant in one of Cambridge's hottest neighborhoods for dining.

DigBoston is reporting that Mother Juice is planning to open a permanent spot in Kendall Square, with the restaurant offering juices as well as "raw foods and vegan snacks from Mass-grown produce." It appears that the new place could be opening around the end of July, according to the article.

[September 12 update: Eater Boston states that the new brick-and-mortar spot from Mother Juice is now open.]

Mother Juice first got its truck up and running in the spring of 2013 after completing a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Arlington Art Lounge Plans to Open in Arlington Heights

It looks like a new place that combines dining and painting may be coming to Arlington Heights, continuing a hot trend in the Boston area and beyond.

The Arlington Advocate is reporting that Arlington Art Lounge is planning to open on Mass. Ave., taking over the space where The Savory Plate was until the gourmet food shop closed its doors last fall. According to the post in the newspaper, the place would "combine painting with light foods" if given approval to open. It is not yet known when Arlington Art Lounge might open, nor is it known what kind of food and drink it may offer, so keep checking back for updates.

A number of restaurants and bars in the Boston area have offer painting sessions of late, and some spots that focus solely on dining/drinking and painting have also opened, including Paint Corner Art Bar in Cambridge.

Jamjuli in Newton Highlands Has Apparently Closed

It looks like a Thai restaurant in Newton has closed its doors.

According to one of our readers, Jamjuli in the Newton Highlands section of the city has shuttered, with a "For Lease" sign now up on the building. Phone calls placed to the dining spot have failed to go through, and a poster on Yelp said several weeks back that the place would indeed be closing due to a "lease issue." (Yelp itself also says that Jamjuli is now closed.) Jamjuli had been in business for approximately 15 years.

Could an Upscale Restaurant Be Coming to the Lynn Waterfront?

It appears that plans for an upscale restaurant could be in the works for the Lynn waterfront, though nothing has been approved as of yet.

The Boston Globe is reporting that a new Lynn-Boston ferry has started running, with the Economic Development and Industrial Corporation of Lynn (a nonprofit organization) being heavily involved in the project. In the article, EDIC executive director Jim Cowdell says that he hopes that the state will go for an idea to construct a year-round ferry terminal at the site (the ferry is currently set to run only into September), along with an upscale dining spot, saying that "I think we'll have enough ridership that we'll build a case that this is sustainable."

The property has Designated Port Area status, which means that residential property cannot be built at the ferry site, according to the Globe.

The ferry terminal is located at the Blossom Street Extension, which is off the Lynnway just south of the downtown section of the city.

McMenamy's Hamburger House in North Easton Is Closing

A landmark restaurant south of Boston is closing its doors after being in business for many, many years.

The Easton Journal and Enterprise is reporting that McMenamy's Hamburger House in North Easton will be shutting down on June 28 after 60 years of operation, with the owners deciding to sell the eatery along with the property on which it resides. McMenamy's first opened as a butcher shop in 1954, with the spot being a neighborhood diner offering burgers and classic American fare such as clam chowder, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese, fried clams, onion rings, fries, and shakes.
