Mr. Crepe Has Opened in Salem

A creperie that is located in one of the busiest parts of Somerville has expanded to the North Shore.

Eater Boston is reporting that Mr. Crepe in Davis Square now has a second location in Salem, moving into a space on Washington Street in the downtown area of the city. Based on the menu at the Somerville location, expect to see a variety of stuffed crepes, soups, salads, pastries, bagels, and more at the new shop, which is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Ghost Walks Is Opening in Boston's Theater District

It looks like a new dining and drinking spot is on its way to downtown Boston, though very little is known about the place at this point in time.

According to a job post within the Craigslist site, The Ghost Walks is planning to open on Stuart Street in the city's Theater District, with the listing saying that it will be a "high end cocktail lounge and restaurant" that is expected to open in the first weeks of March. No other information has been given other than the fact that job interviews will take place February 12-13 and February 19-20. (Keep checking back for updates on this place.)

It looks like The Ghost Walks will be located between Montien Thai and Jacob Wirth, a short distance east of the Tremont Street intersection.

[February 13 update: Eater Boston mentions that The Ghost Walks will be run by the group behind Committee, Bijou, and Cafeteria, and that it will be actually located under Bijou. The post says that the place will be a cocktail lounge that offers champagne served from a vending machine, and that it will have "elevated bar snacks" along with full meals.]

[April 17 update: Boston Magazine states that The Ghost Walks plans to open within the week, and that the team includes general manager Peter Szigeti (Committee), beverage director Moe Isaza (Pammy's, Baldwin Bar) who recently won the U.S. Finals of the Legacy Cocktail Competition, and chef Aaron Lhamon (Wink & Nod/Pareja, AKA Bistro, Sel de la Terre, Troquet on South).]

[April 27 update: An update from Boston Magazine indicates that The Ghost Walks is now open, and that in addition to champagne served from a vending machine, it also offers drinks served in popcorn boxes.]

Dakzen Is Opening in Somerville's Davis Square

It looks like another Asian street food spot is on its way to Somerville's Davis Square.

Eater Boston is reporting that  Dakzen is planning to open somewhere in the neighborhood this summer, moving into the space where another restaurant currently resides (an exact location has not been given as of yet). The article says that the proposed eatery will focus on Thai noodle soups and noodles dishes, including "boat noodles," which includes pork blood mixed into the broth, tom yum noodles, and a curry noodle plate called khao soi.

A couple of months ago, another Thai street food spot called Kor Tor Mor opened on College Avenue where Golden Light had once been.

[February 9 update: The Tables section of The Boston Globe states that Dakzen will be a self-serve eatery offering noodle soups as well as stir-fried noodles with a variety of broths, sauces, and toppings. Blue Bottle Coffee to Open Locations in Downtown Boston, Prudential Center

A few days ago, we reported that a San Francisco-based coffee roaster had opened its first retail shop in the Boston area. Now we have learned that two other locations are on their way as well this year.

According to an article in Boston Magazine, Blue Bottle Coffee is planning to open shops at 100 Federal Street in downtown Boston and at the Prudential Center in the Back Bay, with both scheduled to open sometime in 2018. (We had mentioned earlier that a location would be coming to the Back Bay, but didn't know exactly where at the time.) Once they open, the two stores will join another on Bow Street in Cambridge's Harvard Square, with that outlet officially opening over the past weekend.

Blue Bottle Coffee is considered part of the "third-wave" of specialty coffee shops that focus on high-quality beans; its website can be found at https://bluebottlecoffee.com/

J.P. Licks Is Opening in South Boston

It looks like a local group of ice cream cafes will be opening a new shop in one of Boston's hottest neighborhoods.

According to a Twitter post from @chipsy231, J.P. Licks is planning to open in South Boston, moving into the space on W Broadway where the Cuttin Club beauty salon had been. The tweet indicates that the proposed location is expected to be talked about on February 13, with local residents invited to the meeting.

Currently, locations of J.P. Licks can be found at in Jamaica Plain, Assembly Row and Davis Square in Somerville, Boston's Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and Mission Hill, Cambridge's Harvard Square, Coolidge Corner in Brookline, West Roxbury, Newton Centre, Lynnfield, Wellesley, and Dedham.

Tony & Elaine's Opening in Former Amici Space in Boston's North End

A new restaurant is on its way to the North End of Boston, and it has a connection to a few other nearby dining spots.

According to a source, a place called Tony & Elaine's is planning to open on N Washington Street, moving into the space where Amici had been. A public hearing notice provided by the source indicates that the manager of the proposed spot is Nicholas Frattaroli, who is involved with such restaurants as North Square Oyster, Ward 8 (which is also on N Washington Street), and Bodega Canal on Canal Street. It is not known what exactly the concept might be for Tony & Elaine's, so keep checking back for updates.

Amici was an Italian restaurant that had been in business for approximately 15 years.

[September 21 update: According to a press release, Tony & Elaine's will be a retro but "young and hip" Italian-American red sauce restaurant. The release says that the place will have two floors of dining, with the top floor having red leather booths, red checkered tablecloths, and wood-paneled walls and the bottom floor having black and white checkered floors, red leather booths, and exposed brick walls.]

[November 20 update: Eater Boston mentions that Tony & Elaine's plans to open sometime in December (possibly around December 19 or 20).]

[January 11, 2019 update: Tony & Elaine's did not end up opening around December 19 or 20, with a Facebook post from the place now simply saying that it will open "soon."]

[January 28, 2019 update: Boston Magazine states in an update that Tony & Elaine's opens for dinner service today, with lunch service eventually being offered as well.]

[April 4, 2019 update: According to a press release, Tony & Elaine's is now serving lunch, with the lunch menu including salads, subs, and pasta dishes.]
