An event featuring food, drink, and music is returning to the South Shore town of Duxbury in early September.
According to Island Creek Oyster Foundation website, the Island Creek Oyster Festival will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010, from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Duxbury Beach. The festival, which is in its fifth year, will have 20 chefs from the Boston area as well as music from two bands and a DJ. In addition to oysters and other food, beer and wine will also be available. There will be a Kids' Zone open from 3:00 to 6:00, which will feature, among other things, an interactive tide pool created by the New England Aquarium in Boston.
Tickets to the Island Creek Oyster Festival are $50 (children under 12 are free), with all of the proceeds going to the Island Creek Oyster Foundation, which helps feed people in malnourished areas via hands-on education. The tickets allow participants admission into the festival, access to live music, and small food items created by the chefs. Drink/oyster tickets are $5, with each ticket being good for six Island Creek Oysters or one beer or wine. V.I.P. tickets are also available for $150, and include unlimited oysters in the V.I.P tent and access to a liquor bar (drink tickets are required).
