What looks to be Boston's first-ever burrito competition is coming to Boston's Back Bay in February, and it will feature several local chefs.
An email sent to us by Regan Communications indicates that Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake on Boylston street will be the site of a "Burrito Bowl." The event, which will take place on Saturday, February 5, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, will be a competition among chefs as to who can make the best burrito. Included in the competition will be Corey Comeau of Stephanie's on Newbury, Jose Duarte of Taranta, Andy Husbands of Tremont 647, Jason Hutchinson of Boloco, Erwin Ramos of Ole Mexican Grille, Jason Santos of Gargoyles on the Square, and Brian Poe of Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake. The email mentions that the winning burrito at the Burrito Bowl will be featured the following day at the Rattlesnake's Super Bowl party.
Tickets to the Burrito Bowl cost $15 each and can be purchased in advance at Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake. There will also be tickets available on the day of the event on a cash basis. [February 3 update: Based on several Twitter and Facebook posts (including posts from Poe's Kitchen), it appears that the Burrito Bowl is now sold out.]
Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake can be found at 384 Boylston Street (between Arlington Street and Berkeley Street) in the Back Bay of Boston.
