An Italian restaurant that has been in Medford Square for about 25 years is closed (at least for now), having been seized by the state.
Based on a note--and a photo of the "Seized" sign--from The Boston Foodie, Il Faro on Main Street is shuttered, with the aforementioned sign indicating that the dining spot has been taken over by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for nonpayment of taxes. Il Faro, which, according to their website, first opened in 1986, featured a variety of Northern Italian and Southern Italian dishes, including mussels, risotto, lasagna, gnocchi, ribeye steak, pan-seared salmon, veal marsala, and chicken verdicchio.
Il Faro is a restaurant that had been featured within our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants), with the review being at this link:

If Il Faro ends up reopening, we will post an update here.
[June 6 update: According to the Medford Patch, the "Seized" sign has been taken down at Il Faro, but the restaurant still owes the Massachusetts Department of Revenue a substantial amount of money in back taxes and penalties. The article mentions that the seizure is over (for now, at least) because almost all of the restaurant equipment belongs to the landlord of the building, so it can't be auctioned off to raise money. It is strongly recommended that anyone who plans to go to Il Faro should call ahead over the coming days and weeks to make sure it is open--their phone number is (781) 395-3669.]
The address for this restaurant in Medford Square is: Il Faro, 21 Main Street, Medford, MA, 02155.
