Spoke Wine Bar Is Opening in Somerville's Davis Square

A new wine bar is going to be opening in the Davis Square section of Somerville, and one of the people behind it also happens to own a well-known specialty food shop next door.

According to the Boston Business Journal, a wine bar is being planned for the space on Holland Street where the clothing store Black and Blues had been. The article mentions that the folks looking to open the new spot are the owner of Dave's Fresh Pasta, which is adjacent to the space, and the shop's wine buyer. Small plates such as tapas, cheese, and salads will be offered at the wine bar along with wine, beer, and cocktails, according to the article.

It looks like construction on the place could start within the next month, with a possible opening during the summer.

[August 2 update: It looks like the new place from Dave's Fresh Pasta will be called "Spoke Wine Bar," based on an email address within a job post on the BostonChefs.com site for a "new Davis Square small plates restaurant/wine bar." We'll try to confirm this over the coming days. (Thanks to a poster on the Chowhound site for bringing this to our attention.)]

[March 7, 2013 update: Grub Street Boston says that Spoke wine bar appears to be "very close to opening," as the place is currently waiting for inspections to go through.]

[March 29, 2013 update: UrbanDaddy mentions that Spoke Wine Bar opens tonight.]

The address for this new wine bar in Davis Square is: Spoke Wine Bar, 89 Holland Street, Somerville, MA, 02144.
