A burger restaurant on the South Shore that has a couple of well-known celebrity brothers behind it could be expanding (if one of the brothers is to be believed), with the new locations being a good distance east of the Boston area.
An interview with actor and former pop star Mark Wahlberg in the London-based Metro indicates that plans are apparently in place for Wahlburgers in Hingham to expand overseas, with the Dorchester native stating that they are "opening a bunch of them in Britain and Ireland this year." But a Boston Business Journal article seems to put this rumor on hold at the very least, as the folks behind Wahlburgers have apparently talked about both expanding in Boston and overseas, with the vice president of operations focusing only on the Boston expansion in the article. Earlier this month we reported that Wahlburgers, which is also owned by chef/restaurateur Paul Wahlberg and actor/former pop star Donnie Wahlberg, may be looking to open a new location in the Fenway area as well, with the recent Business Journal article indicating that the Back Bay and the waterfront are possibilities as well.
The Metro article also quotes Mark Wahlberg as saying that the Hingham eatery is making "$17,000 a day."
The address for Wahlburgers in Hingham is: Wahlburgers, 19 Shipyard Drive, Hingham, MA, 02043.
Thanks to Grub Street Boston for bringing this to our attention.
